What is Baptist Student Ministries?
Baptist Student Ministries is a Christian student organization whose
mission and ministry is to provide area students and young adults with
the hope of the gospel of Jesus through outreach and discipleship, to
build friendships and fellowships through activities and programs, to
involve students in the work of missions and to share together in the
worshipful celebration of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Who may participate? Do I have to be a Baptist?
BSM programs are open to ALL area students and young adults -
both Christians and those desiring to learn more or have a closer walk
with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The group consists of about
300 members yet only about 35% of them come from Baptist churches
- many come from other denominations or have no home church at all.
Yet, all are united by their desire to worship and serve Christ in a
meaningful way.
When does the BSM meet?
Our on-campus, praise and worship service occurs throughout the
school year on Thursday nights at 8:30 p.m. in the Science Building
auditorium. But that's only a small part of what we offer each week.
Bible studies, fellowship activities, prayer dinners and more provide
opportunities for everyone to participate - regardless of schedule.
The complete listing of BSM programs and activities is sent via e-mail
to all members every week and posted on the calendar page of this
website as well.
What if I can't make it to everything?
Don't worry about it - most people can't! That's why we offer a wide
variety of programs and activities so that people can participate
whenever time permits.
Does it cost anything to be a member of the BSM?
There are no membership fees or weekly dues. We do take up an
offering at our praise and worship service which helps to support our
outreach efforts and we do ask everyone to pay a small fee at some
of our activities to help keep our costs down.
